Networking Hard disk server - to turn a PC hard disk into a TOPS Mac server - set up a directory (called a Volume by TOPS) on the PC hard disk. Call it Mac (or anything you want); just make sure it has a copy of the System and Finder on it. Then boot (from floppy) a Mac which does not have a hard disk drive attached. The floppy you are booting from must contain a System folder that contains all the files you need to start TOPS. Next you "mount" the Mac "volume" from the PC, open it and, holding down the OPTION and COMMAND keys, double-click on the Finder icon. Your Mac can then proceed to mount any other needed volumes. All of the Macs that are using the PC hard disk as a server will need their own copies of the System in their own folders. Centram does not recommend running more than two Macs from the server at any one time.
